Default Power Cleans

Do any of you guys do power cleans?

From my experience, they are really good for gaining mass and strength over a short period of time. The reason is it incorporates so many muscles in a concentrated exploision of force. Unlike other benching, squatting, etc, power-cleaning has an explosive and aerobic element to it that really pushes your body to the limit.

And once you get the hang of it, you can raise your power-cleaning weight quite easily. I made 20lb increments in between power-cleaning days.

I have never really gotten into them myself, but they are excellent for all the reasons you stated. I read that they help your endocrine system produce hormones just like deads, squats, bench, and other big compound exercises because it works so many muscles. I would definately keep doing them since you've already got them incorporated into your routine.

Yea, you should really get into them. I highly recommend it. I think one reason people are turned off by cleans is the technique is kind of hard to learn (certainly harder than benching for example). And it's even dangerous if you don't get it right (you could pull a muscle or let the weight drop on you).

But here's one thing power-cleans does to you that nothing else does: After 3 sets of cleaning, I have a pool of sweat around me. I don't get that way with any other workout, not with squats or benching. It is byfar the most intense workout ever. It really takes the life out of you... which is why you gain so fast on them.
