Those last reps that are hard to pump out are what build your muscle. The rest is just a warmup. getting your muscles ready for what they are about to go through. Atleast thats what i believe. Seems to work for me.
It may not work for someone like it does me. Thats the thing about people. What works for one may not for another. But i believe this would work for all. Maybe im wrong i dunno. But give it a shot Ross.

After I finish my warm up/weight acclimation, all of my reps will ultimately aid in building muscle. Not just the ones I have to struggle with. Training to near failure seems to have the same (or more) benefits compared to training to failure and is less detrimental to your recovery.

It's good that you have an open attitude and understand that what works for one person might not work as well for another. But the facts that constitute human physiology are still relevant.
