Default Question on Chest

I've seen some pics of Arnold when he was really young (age:20), and in some of the pics/vids of him (age 20) the very bottom of his chest looks slightly thicker then compared to some pics/vids of him in his prime (age:27/28). Almost as if while his whole chest was growing, the very bottom started to appear as though it got thinner. My question is, AS your chest (and in particular the very lower chest) grows, will the very bottom ever start to appear as though it got thinner and then continue to get thinner and thinner, even as the whole muscle continues to grow?

Just to be clear, I do NOT mean atrophy. I mean AS the lower fibers hypertrophy.
I know the fibers do NOT "grow thinner". I am referring to how the lower portion "appears" on the body. As it grows, I know it gets thicker at first, but then is there a point (in the growth progression) where the very bottom starts to look like it gets thinner? Perhaps b/c something to do with how gravity affects how the muscle appears? To be even more direct, as your lower chest keeps growing, will it keep "looking" like it gets thicker? And continue to "look" like it gets thicker? Or at any point, as it's growing, will it start to "look" like it got thinner, and then after that point, as it keeps growing, will it keep looking like its gets thinner and thinner?
Here's a pic I made to help illustrate:
