Hi,

Why do we have to perform - so many exercises & - so many sets for each exercise for each muscle group.

Have you ever looked at a 5x5 program? The basic program has you doing 3 exercises a day, 5 sets each, 3 days a week. Thats only 15 sets 3 times a week, which is 45 total sets in a week. The more advanced has you throw in some low volume direct bi/tri work here and there.

Thats what I ma trying to ask.

Like scorcher is saying 3 exercises 5 sets each, but wwhat is the reason for performing so many sets, why not just 1 set per exercise.

Well, all days arent exactly 5 max sets of 5. Some days you pyramid the weight (still all sets of 5) until you hit your traget weight that last set. So those days are actually only 1 working set for that exercise. Read up on the program and you'll understand much better.
