Default Skin Caliper Recommendations?

Hey guys,

I am trying to get a decent judge of my bf % at home to track my progress but the calipers I bought from BN are a piece of crap (the Accu-Measures). Any of you that use calipers have any brand or model recommendations that give relatively accurate readings?

Thumbs up Go digital

Hey Sleazy,
Bodybuilding.com has the "Fat Track II Digital Body Fat Caliper".

I can't say whether it's 100% accurate, but it's accurate OVER TIME (consistent). It gives a little beep when the correct pressure is applied so that you'll get a consistent measurement every time, which is all you really need to track changes in your body fat.

I think it goes for around $29.99. Comes with a free "Myotape" which is a nice device to measure your bodyparts ($5 value).

www.bodybuilding.com/store/acc/fattrack.html

There is another one on the market which is more expensive, I think it has "gold" in the name. That one, I think, is made by the same company that makes the Accu-Measure.

Hope this helps.

Tony Little has a fancy body fat scale out. All you have to do is order a Gazelle and you can get it for free.

Ya, I have tried that digital one, its a huge pain as well and the numbers jump all over the place. I have used calipers alot in the past and could never get numbers close to each other with that fat track thing.

I think my best bet is just going and getting tested or getting a professional one. Thanks for the input though.

Really? I've never had a problem with the numbers jumping around too much. Don't know what to tell you. I tend to be pretty skinny, anyway, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Guess there's no easy way.

ive never really been a fan of the digital ones, i have a scale at my house that doubles up at a bf% estimator and most of the time it gives me these outrageous readings that i dont even think are possible like 49% bf (which actually has happened to me before)

I was actually talking about a digital caliper, not a digital body fat scale. Sleazy was saying the calipers didn't work for him either.
