Hi Skinny Dude,

i posted a thread on building muscles for skinny people and i assume you would fall into this category.

One thing i find important for skinny people to build muscles is to eat a meal high in complex carbohydrates and quality protein within 45 minutes of working out. It is extremely important that this meal should be taken first after the workout before doing anything else.

I posted an article on this topic also. You can read it here or visit my website for more useful content. Hope you gain bulk fast. Cheers.

Drop the amount of cardio you're doing. Like yourself, I have an extremely fast metabolism. I usually don't need to do cardio, even when dieting for a competition. Start on a beginners workout program, follow it and make sure your diet is on track. You may need to bump it up more! Keep on assessing and adjusting your workout/ diet weekly. See what works and what doesn't and go from there.

Running 2 days and lifting 3 days? Firstly you dont need to be running at all unless you want to cut. Secondly you need to workout more than 3 days a week. Eat slower digesting carbs ie. whole grains, brown rice, oats and faster digesting only after workout.

Lift Heavier. Maybe 6-8 reps. Cut out cardio completely, it is obviously holding you back!

Lifting weights is plenty cardio anyway.

I've been reading alot of articles about naturally thin people putting on mass but I'm having an insanely disappointing start.

Last week I ate between 3,500-3,950 calories and running 2 days a week and lifting 3 days. Here's what I figured:
1,950 calories used just by subsisting
450 calories avg/day for 45 minute workout
300 calories from a crazy metabolism
That totals 2,700 calories needed a day. For almost two weeks by this math I had a 1,000 calorie surplus daily yet I am STILL down 2lbs from two weeks ago.

How is this possible? Is it that I am burning fat? Anyone ever heard of someone's metabolism being this fast? I appreciate any advice ahead of time!

Quit running and focus on heavy lifting and do 6x6 training specially do heavy on your squat, bench press and deadlift. assistance workout can be done atleast 10 reps.
