Default sleeplessness

hey guys,

i know this isn't pertaining exactly to training but it's essential for it anyway so i wanted to post it. what exactly should i be looking to change if i am not sleeping enough?

case in point - it's 330 AM here and i haven't slept at all. i ate a reasonable but not overwhelming amount of calories today. my last meal was at about 1130 and it was oatmeal w/ peanut butter, which has not seemed to affect my sleep before now. i didn't sleep much last night, although i caught a nap from about 12-2. i had a very strenuous wrestling practice today so my exercise should be covered.

but still i'm here at 330 not even slightly tired.

what should i be doing differently?

i've been posting a lot of questions lately and i want also to say thanks to everyone who has helped or answered - i really appreciate it. thanks, guys.

alot of people swear by that ZMA stuff. the only times i have problems sleeping is when i'm anxious about something.

like last night i had a buddy stay over, he was in town for work....and he told me he was going to have to take the powerbloc dumbbells back that he let me borrow for a few years. since the new placed him and his girlfriend moved into has no gym, he needed something.

i was hoping to wake up seeing that he forgot to take them

you can also try melatonin...i think it's all natural.

Chances are you need to modify your habits a few hours before bed. I have to take a shower, then "wind down" by either reading or just putting my feet up in my bed and watching the news.

I've found if I don't spend some time winding down and preparing myself for bed, I can't sleep either. If I'm playing a video game or watching a decent movie before bed, there's no way I'm sleeping soundly.

My problems are probably more severe. Since the Marines, when I lay down at night, my feet always feel like someone's tickling them with a feather. Sucks bad too! Probably some nerve damage from the long hikes no doubt about it.

probably right about the pre-bed habits. i guess i just figured that would maybe delay it but not keep me up until 5am, lol. i'll work on it.

I read for about 15-20 minutes before hitting the sack. Nothing that I actually have to work to understand just some sports or other easy reading. Works for me.
