Default Squats and Leg Ext...

The leg Extension works out the quads(only) and squats work out the quads(also other things) so I am asking if it would be pointless to do both for my leg exersices?

Many exercise programs list them on the same day. They both work the muscle a little bit differently. Do you only do flat bench for chest, or just straight bar curls for bi's. Nope.

Usually I do 2-3 exercises per body part. Currently Im on Max-OT, and doing the following on leg day
Squats 3sets 4 to 6 reps
Leg Press 2 sets 4 to 6 reps
Stiff Leg Deadlifts 2 sets 6 reps
Standing Machine Calf Raises 2sets 6 to 8 reps
45° Leg Press Calf Raises 2 sets 6 to 8 reps

Did you know that there is no natural movement for you to do a leg extension? However if you want to do them there is no reason you can't do them on the same day, as a matter of fact the only thing there good for is the final burn at the end of your work out. The should not be the primary exercise in a leg routine. Squats, squats, and squats.

Default Leg Extensions

I use leg extensions as a warm-up excercise. If I feel I need a little extra warm-up for the knees, I use a light weight and complete 15-30 reps 1 to 2 sets.

they can be used to warm up the quads, get that nice burn at the end of the workout OR pre-exhaust the quads so that when you hit squats/legpress you can focus more on the auxilliary muscle groups. ie if your quads are close to spent when you hit your squats, you'll be forced to use more glutes/etc to get the weight up. extensions are a good tool to help build your legs, but you'll never be able to build massive treetrunk legs doig only extensions
