Default stiff leg dead lifts

my coach is telling me to do stiff leg dead lifts, but they are very hard on my lower back so i do rack dead lifts and romanians. Should i listen to my coach and do stiff legs or not and stay with what i am doing right now?

I would listen to my body if I were you. If you wanted to compromise, maybe you could do SLDs with very light weight.

yeah do them with light weight, and add a little bit of a squat to it. make it a squat goodmorning and work your way up. it puts a litle more stress on the glutes but it still hits your hams. start of with som elight dumbells. dont know what you can lift but start off with some 30s i guess. open your stance up a little to around shoulder width. you are still doing it like a SLDL but you are bending your knees and exaggerating sticking out your butt (no homo). you can look it up on youtube to get some clips. but it is just about the same thing with a little bit of tweaks

i agree with the other guys, keeping the weight low and just really focusing on form is the way to go on stiff leg deadlifts and it will help prevent you from messing up your back

You can do stiff leg or straight leg deadlift. One of them has a slight bend at the knee. That is how I do them.

You should never do a deadlift with a completely straight leg.

I do mine with a slightly bent knee, if you do them completely straight its a good way to hurt yourself, and you wont feel it as much in your quads. Fix your form and your lower back issues will most likely go away.

besides, the lower back should be getting hit anyway. if your knees are just unlocked then your still doing strait legged DL (i beleive). i always though SLDL and RLDL were the same exersize just a different name.
