Wink Swimming or running for a six pack?

Hi there im trying to cut the fat off my abs and I was just curious if anyone knew what was better. Swimming for about 30-45 minutes 3 times a week or running ? I already am following a good diet but ive got a layer of fat still I need to burn off. Any tips or tricks would be very helpful..

I would switch it up, but for abs swimming is definitely gonna work our abs more. If you have a place to take advantage of swimming then do it. I work out at a YMCA and I should be taking advantage and I do not. Ha the last time "about a year ago" I swam like 20 laps and was so sore the next day. You are working everything when you swim.

Either will work fine if you're just trying to lose some fat. It's all about the calories......

hey bro
I can tell you I had a six pak at 16 and an 8 pak at 20 and a 10 pak at 30. I am 38 now and havent worked out for 2 years but still have 8 pak.
Leg lifts pick your feet up six inches off the ground and hold them there as long as you can..
Do this till you wanna puke and then do sets of sit ups till your guts are on fire add some HGH and I gaurantee you will have a six pak in 6 to 12 weeks.

yeah, no kidding. there are only 6, bub. sometimes it may look like 8, but it's only 6 (technically speaking).

I have no idea wtf you mean by 10. That's just odd.



OP: Mix it up a bit, like others have said. Try switching between running (not long runs, do shorter sprints) and swimming. Toss in some high-intensity rock climbing and jump-rope to mix things up even more. All of those can work great.

technically it's only one. the rectus abdominus is not 6-8 different muscles

I vote for mixing it up. Both are great for cardio and can help increase your metabolism.

Losing fat is more in the calories. You have to lose fat to have "visual" abdominal muscles.

As far as swimming vs. running goes, there's nothing wrong with doing both, as in choosing on certain days one in particular. When your body becomes tolerate to running, it's essentially a more developing method to enhance heart rate by changing in speeds, seeing we do run for "cardiovascular exercise" and the faster the heart beats, the more calories you use as energy.

Running would be more beneficial to the lungs and heart, swimming has more resistance and therefore could be better for muscular endurance, you'd essentially develop an overall more effective cardiovascular workout by doing both, doing both would help you more than doing just one.

When it comes to weight loss, it's all in the calories.
