Default Too old?

I am 49 years old and 174 cm/ 88kg. I would like to loose about 10 kg and gain more musclemass and strength. Am I too old for that?

i dont think your ever too old..i think working out is especially good when u get really old since your still pretty young becuase it tones the muscles and keeps u in shape so u dont break anything as easy things like that. my dads 50 and he workouts u just have to watch yourself. as far as weight lose supplements im not to sure but protien shakes would be great at any age i use ON's protien (if you have a supplement store by u) but u can also buy it online for cheaper but u just have to wait for shipping thats the only down side

You are never too old. At the age of 62, Albert Beckles was still competing against guys half is age and beating them. Check out this link. or type it if the link does not work.

I got a 5lb tub of ON's chocolate protein powder in, like three (working) days. I ordered it on Sunday nite and it got here today, Thursday (Monday was Memorial Day in the states). It was $26. $46 on the ON site, but they're way overpriced anyway.

...bg

BTW: I got it at www.bulknutrition.com

Thumbs up Attitude and Determination!

ealainen --Never think you are to old to do anything you set your mind too. Attitude and Determination are half the battle. If you want to succeed then set a goal, reasonable goal and then work for that. Remember if you are trying to loose weight and you go on a weight loss program the first thing you are going to loose is muscle so you have to exercise more to keep that muscle and shed the fat. There is no magical pill that will give you that body you want and invision in your mind. Only dedication and hard work will get you to your goal. Get in touch with a person who really knows about nutrition and body building--not weight lifting. If you want the power lifting later that is OK but build the foundation first. To many people set unrealistic goals and get frustrated and quit because they don't accomplish immediately what they want. Set short range goals and long range goals and go at it and NEVER GIVE UP. Eating right is probably the first step you need to take. Learn about what is good and what is not good for you. You are most likely going to have to eat differently than you had been eating. Smaller meals, more often, good protein shakes, and consitency in your eating habits are a must. Your lifestyle will change and when you see what you are accomplishing your life will even change. It can only happen if you do it. Nobody can eat for you, work out for you, or be determined for you but YOU. Remember you're not 22 anymore and you have to work harder to get that 22 year old body. I can relate to all this because 8 months ago I was run down, my weight was dropping on me very fast (down to 137 lbs from 157), I felt my health was failing, and a lot of stress from a failed relationship and work had me on a downward spiral. I found someone who knew about the body building aspects and he put me on track. I gained back 14 lbs and at the same time built a well toned body that I feel good with and I get the comments and admiration from a lot of younger than 62 year olds comment on . YOU ARE NEVER TO OLD!

Supplements aren't always necessary, just a good diet and weight training. The key thing is a good pre and post workout shake. This has been discussed on this site. Probably the best supplementation you can get. R-ala would be good to take as well.
