Deadlifts will almost always bring on soreness but there is a fine line between muscle soreness and muscle strains/pulls/tears.

Sounds like you may have a strain but it's hard to diagnose over the internet obviously.

When deadlifting it is absolutely crucial to keep your lower back locked. Your lower back should not round over ... if it does you WILL get hurt.

I've struggled with this but you can get around it and get stronger it just takes knowing your limits and knowing what good form really is/feels like.

Note that Iron worker specifically said your LOWER back. If you want to get very technical, rounding of the upper back is perfectly fine, and can even help you lift heavier at much higher weights, but I would not recommend it especially if you workout alone because you won't know that you're potentially doing something wrong until you hurt yourself. Again, the lower back must always remain locked.

To answer your question, if you have a hard time bending down, you either hurt your back or you're experiencing DOMS in your lower back and/or hips/glutes. If it HURTS, as in pain, then you've probably injured yourself and should stay away from back exercises for a while. If it's just soreness, then there shouldn't be a serious problem. You could possibly be over training or not getting enough calories.

Ya, I can always predict that I'll be rockin' my heat back wrap after a workout of deadlifts. Most cases the day after as well. There's just needs to be a point that personally you know that you are in a range of safety. No point in being out of the gym for a long period of time and losing that muscle gains, just for some big ego lift. Not worth it in my opinion. Deadlifts are a staple exercise, but sometimes I cringe in the gym when I see some people doing them. Yikes!

maybe just soreness? If it is actually a sharp pain then you might have done something. Probably should go to the doctor.
