Default What am I doing wrong?

When I work out my back I feel like my biceps get worked out more than any thing. I really don't feel it in my back at all.

I have been doing seated cable rows, dumbell rows, lat pull downs ect...

You may say my form is not correct and it may not be however I looked at some video on another web site and I am doing it as they say and show.

Any advice on the subject? I know that the biceps are getting used and I will feel it some but I guess I am asking why don't I feel it in my back more than I am feeling it? I know this is not easy to answer since you can't watch me. Do any of you feel the same?

you have to concentrate on flexing the back muscles and/or squeezing your shoulder blades together and don't think about your bi's. ... every time you do a row, think about what your back would look like if it flexed.. that what I do every lift...

Try and grip the bar without wrapping your thumb around it. What I mean is to keep your thumbs lined up with the rest of your fingers when gripping the bar. This will help eliminate some of your biceps use.

Another thing you can try is to do static holds. Here's a few examples:

-Lat Pulldown Machine: Grab the bar with a wide grip. Lean backwards and pull the bar approx. 4-6 inches in towards you and hold it for 20-30 seconds.
-Cable rows: Same thing. Pull the bar into you about 4-6 inches and hold. You must concentrate on flexing your back muscles to hold it, not your arms.

Another method is to do pulses. These are similiar to statics, with the exception of your range of motion being those 4-6 inches when you execute your reps. All you're doing for reps is using that 6 inch range. It's a little hard to explain.

When you do a set do your biceps give out? Or does your back give out? Or do you just stop?

My biceps never give out or get real tired, I just feel it more in my biceps than my back. I have been working out this time for about 3 months, at least 4 times/week.

Also do any of you have a good excercise to strengthen the lower stomach. I have been doing crunches but only feel it in the middle to upper abs.

The back is a very large muscle and won’t burn like the biceps will. As long as your doing them until you fail you should be fine. You might want to try lightning the weight and go with high reps for a while and then increase the weight again. Also the grip suggestion by 0311 is a good idea as well.
Are you doing chins and pull downs?
