Default What is he doing wrong?!

I'm 22, my brother is 17
We both joined a gym and started working out on similar workouts for 3 months. September we changed up the workouts and he started following my new workout.

The only supplements my brother takes is a mega men multi-vit and a protein/glutamine shake post workout
I wake up the following morning somewhat in pain every once and awhile but my brother has NEVER felt sore and hasnt gained any considerable muscle weight.

The "new" workout consists of:
Mon- bicep curls, shoulder press, chest/military press, triceps, lat pull downs, rows, abs
Tuesday- squats, calf raises, leg extensions, hamstrings
Wed- cardio and abs
Thurs- (same as monday, minus abs)
Fri- (same as tuesday)
Sat-Sun- rest or cardio
(all sets are 15x3, abs are 25x4)

he doesnt get sore and doesnt see any real results.. hes starting to get tired of the gym bc he feels that his body hasnt changed in the last 4 months while ive lost 9lbs of fat and gained 11lbs of muscle

any idea on how he can change his workout to get the best results?

go read the sticky. There are many faults in your program. Read the "why arent you growing" sticky. It should help you out...

Everyone is different ( as you have found out ) so what works for you may not work for him. As Wolf said , read the stickies - they will help you and him a lot.

Diet is another key point -

I agree with both. Diet is extremely important and the stickies will help point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Are you both at the same training level? Have you been working out for the same total amount of time? Do you lift the exact same weight? Do you accelerate the bar at the same rate? Do you rest/sleep the same amount? Do you have the same level of activity outside the gym? Are you both lifting at the same intensity? etc etc. ad nauseum

You're trying to get the exact same training effect between two people, and there are about a million variables that could explain it. Like Talo said, everyone's different.

Aside from those, diet is the main cause of not growing (like the others pointed out).

Your workout is far from ideal, to be honest. The stickies will help with that as well as the diet, like the other mentioned.

You say you've gained 11lbs of muscle while losing 9lbs of fat. How do you know this and what has your brother done in comparison? If you stepped on a scale it would say that you gained 2lbs in 4 months...That in itself doesn't seem like good progress with the rep scheme you've chosen ("mass" based). Maybe all your brother sees is a 2lb change in 4 months and thinks he's not gaining.
