Default Optimimal Amount of Cardio?

Okay so I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to cardio information at all so I thought I would ask you guys. Being that I haven't had time to really do as much cardio as I would like during my CKD because of school/job priorities during this last month, I am going to hit the cardio hard next week once I graduate (finally).

My question is, what do you think the optimal amount of cardio is on a cutting diet so as not to lose too much muscle. I train 4 days a week and was planning on doing 3 days of AM cardio on my off days. Probally around 30-40 minutes depending on how fast it takes me to hit my calories burning goals according to the machine. Do you think this is about right or is it too much or not enough?

Ohh and I know there is no set answer, just want your relative thoughts of what you think is the right amount.

I am pretty sure 311 will say, do a 16-20 minute high intensity cardio.
