Default Whey Proten, Protein bars

Im currently new to the gym and i started doing Rippetoes starting program as i said in my previous post.
Workout A
3x5 Squat
3x5 Bench Press
1x5 Deadlift

Workout B
3x5 Squat
3x5 Standing military press
3x5 Pendlay Rows

So week 1 might look like:
Monday - Workout A
Wednesday - Workout B
Friday - Workout A

Week 2:
Monday - Workout B
Wednesday - Workout A
Friday - Workout B

I just bought Whey Protein and some protein bars.
I was thinking of 1 scoop of whey+milk for breakfast, than before my workout a protein bar which has 20g of protein and a glass of milk or water, is this good or no? and what do i take after my workout? Thanks

Definately not good. You havent told us what time you wake up and what time you hit the gym. Besides that info, a protein bar is not a good pre workout nutrition plan.

personally I'd save the whey for your pre-to-post workout drink, use the bars only when you're in a hurry or on the road and use whole food meals the rest of the time.

I agree. Protein bars are not an ideal food. In fact it should be illiegal for many of them to call themselves healt food items (cough Snickers cough). If you are going to have them check the ingredients and sugar content.

I keep some around for 'emergency' use only. When I'm on a road trip or something of the sort and I just don't have a better option I'll settle for a bar. The keyword being settle. You're always better off going with a real meal - a lean protein, a starchy carb and a fibrous vegetable. Its more work, but definitly worth it. Plus, you'll save cash in the long run.
