think whatever you want but I've studied the book and found that there are exercises to target certain areas of the pectorals and that they work.
There are many books out there that will give you a lot of misinformation. Or perhaps whats in the book is right, and your simply misinterpreting it. Either way, you need to see that your pec is one muscle (ok two actually, but one is under the other), and it will grow as one muscle. The variations of bench simply shift how much wieght is being moved by the muscle.

for instance, the higher of an incline you use on incline bench, the more you are working your shoulders, and hence, the less you are working your chest.

I know your new to this, so keep an open mind, reading one book isnt going to make you an expert, so soak up as much as you can from every source, and come to your own conclusions.
