Gold was banned from private ownership from 1933 to the 1970s. And then the U.S. dollar was inflated to fight the national depression. But we don't have that problem anymore...

But the Feds can definitely take your gold to pay for public debt. My advice, dig a hole and bury the gold. Don't lose the map!
