Default master cleanse diet

ok so i was talking to a friend
she said she was trying this diet called the master cleanse diet.... were all you do is basically drink lemonade with maple syrup in it (if i under stood correctly)

this sounds ridiculous... apparently you do this for 10 days or so and it rids you of toxin (BS) and you lose weight.....
thing is is this possible to do without losing muscle?

obveously you would have to stop weight lifting for that period of time....

would there be some way of adding the necessary things to still lose weight but keep your muscle?

im not gunna do it i wouldnt have the will power to lose my steak and chicken lol im just being nosy
sorda bafled by how extreme it sound as well

This sounds absolutely retarded. You would basically be drinking sugar water.... with zero protein intake.

This is *not* good for you IMO. You *will* lose muscle and strength. I would not recommend this to anyone. The only "benefit" I can see is it would get rid of a lot of solids in your body that may be old so you may feel less bloated... but I can think of much better ways to do that!

This is definitely not going to work. Starving yourself is not healthy, it's suicide! Another thing, losing weight by starving yourself don't have good outcome. It will sag your muscles and even give you stomach ulcer which you will regret in the end. If you want to lose weight, don't be lazy. Head out the gym or take a run.

Either she or you misunderstood the "diet." You don't drink the mixture instead of food, you drink it throughout the ten days (it also has cayenne pepper in it). You will probably lose weight, but it will not be fat. Does it work as a "detox" or "cleanser"- lots of celebrities will say yes. Beyonce in particular used this. But will it lead to fat loss? Doubtful. Weight loss does not always equal fat loss. -EK

If you want to cleanse, just buy a colon cleanser

The problem with "cleansing" is that it typically entails taking stuff that is harsh on the GI tract. Of course I'm sure it couldn't be much more harsh than the Chinese food I had for lunch today at the buffet.

Some cleansers have fiber, probiotics, and other ingredients that help to maintain the health of your digestive tract. You could easily replace it with foods however. My fiber consumption is typically "low", but when I increase it I feel better throughout the day.

Colon cleansing for weight loss is bullshit, but if it's done with your diet, then it has good health benefits. By benefits, I mean reducing your chance of colon cancer.

I used to run a really strict diet with fiber being on the low side... The performance at the gym was great, I was able to build muscle while shedding some fat and increase strength a bit too. However, I didn't like eating it, and my GI tract was hating me.

Now, I have a diet that is a little less strict, tastes good, and is super high in fiber/probiotics. I feel much better day to day and my gym performance is still pretty good. I think in the long run my second version of the diet is better because I can stick to it because I actually like it!

Cleansing your colon and/or liver is complete bull****. If either one were somehow "toxic" you'd come down with a slight case of death.

One of the most toxic things we ingest, for example, is alcohol. But the body is pretty good at dealing with this if given proper hydration and some time to recover.
