Trying to avoid all sugar in your typical American diet is like trying to avoid breathing :(
I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but two simple rules that seem to have not done me wrong are to avoid comercially fried foods (it is different if I pan fry some chicken in olive oil) and avoid HFCS.
Table sugar... well, I'm only human

Besides, I'm not convinced that artificial sweeteners are any better for us than sugar. I'm not man enough to eat nothing but veggies and meat, so I have to take some calculated risks about my dietary intake.
