Default Spotting the FAD(aka bullshit) diet

Ok, we've all seen them on tv, in GNC, in the grocery store. There is always a new FAD diet, pushing some ridiculous way of losing fat. And undoubtedly people try it, and fail. Then the so called evidence that it was based on is said to be faulty or whatever.

There are some tell tail signs of a bullshitter, and I'll post up a few, but i'd like to hear some feed back on what you guys think.



1. if anywhere in the diet there is a refrence like this
("On this day you can eat as much as you want")
or
("There is no limit to the amount of (insert macro nutriet here) you can eat")

2. if you are exspected to purchase suppliments from a specific company ... namely the one promoting the diet.

3. if the diet advocates a day where you "only drink this special beverage"

4. if the diet makes extremely unrealistic claims, dropping 50lbs in 10 weeks ect.

I think that's a pretty accurate set of criteria for spotting the bullshit fad diet.

The person endorsing it could be a giveaway too. Like Sly promoting his cutting supps ,when he's already cut (that's a bit of numero deux as well but you get the idea)

I talk to people all the time who are on these diets. I tell them they are BS and give them some solid advice and they look at me like I'm some kind of alien.

The popular line is that will work for you but this will work for me.

Dude, I think this one is totally bogus! If you don't believe the black and white, they have the friggin' pictures. They are sooo realistic man!

another sign is if they tell you to stay away from a macro nutrient all together..

also if they say that you can't mix foods together

or if your see an info-mercial with a midget ponytail wearin' dude in spandex shorts...

I've seen refrences to that macro mixing shit your talking about, what a load of crap.

oh and you gotta love those before and afters Thop, hardcore like body for life son.

SDF, what I was refering to was this ridiculous detox diet that advocates the notion your body can only handle one macro nutrient at a time. They believe mixing of protien/fats/carbs hinders the bodies ability to break down those foods or some such nonesense.

I wasnt saying that having Protien fat, and protien carb meals seperated was bullshit.
