Karate Camp 07
This past weekend was our yearly karate camp, and I had fully intended on taking it easy while there. But there is just something about the atomosphere that brings out the hard head in me.
I didnt go too overboard, but I did fight, and even with one hand tied to my belt, it got pretty rough at times. I would be lying if i said I didnt use my right arm at all, and at times it was really killing me, but it worked out for me in the end.
When all was said and done, I was promoted to 3rd degree black belt, and also awarded the title of sensei. After roughly 15yrs of training (11 with this perticular school) I am so excited to be at this level. there is a lot of hard work ahead, but as soon as this arm is 100% again, I'll be back at it and more motivated then ever.
I didnt have a camera, but others did, and I will post up some pics if ya'll want me too of my promotion an such.

you da man
Bad Ass man. Congratulations. That is awesome. I'm glad to hear you were able to pull it off without getting more injured. What martial art is it in? I know you've mentioned it before but I can't remember.

Dave i train in Isshinryu karate, the school also trains in Yoshitsune Jujutsu but I havent had a chance to get started with that yet.
As far as training goes we are not very traditional, we focus on free style sparing, and we are very mixed in our approach (sparring often goes to the floor). But we still do use kata, and traditional kobudo (weapons).

That's great. I'm glad your school tries to stay up on the new trends in fighting and still keep the traditions of the art.
