It occurs to me that powerlifting is NOT a training method at all. It's a competition involving the three lifts. How you prepare for that competition is completely up to you. The point being you do not have to train in any particular way to call yourself a powerlifter, it's just smarter to train that way after a certain point of strength development.

So yeah, call yourself what you want. But powerlifting is what you do not how you train, IMO. I just wouldn't want an absolute beginner to lifting to think they need to go right to what actually are advanced tecniques and end up hurting themselves by tearing a tendon, ligament, or what have you.
