Something else I remembered.

When I was living in Ontario I had a great job , we didn't have to pay anything for health care ( my work did ) . Then I lost my job and moved to Alberta. Once we registered with the province we had to start paying Health Care.
I remember getting a bill for $500 one month and this was because I didn't have a good job when I first got here.... By the end of the year we had to pay over $2500 in Health care bills and we never went to the hospital or doctor once.

We did fight it and ended up with a settle , but still I was in shock big time !

I'm with you HG. Then we have to pay more taxes on top of what we want to buy. Plus Housing taxes.....So many it's not funny

I bet by the time it's all said and done a person prob pays 90% of their check in tax ( after food tax , cost of living , heating tax , house tax , road tax, water tax, garbage tax , electric , phone , internet , tv all taxes ,more, tax on top of tax ) We need to make a stand one of these days

Taxes are a tough animal to tackle. High taxes have been the catalyst for upheaval throughout history, at the same time, tax too little, and everyone bitches that the poor are not being taken care of.

No matter what you do, when you have people who work paying for things for people who do not, there will animosity, and rightfully so.

That was it John Q, thanks Pity, I just wanted to know if there was any truth behind the film?

I wouldn't say that movie is true. It's based on real concerns but I suspect that the plot was driven by dramatic concerns more than truth.

I don't know that a child has ever been refused a heart transplant, or something such as that, by an HMO. Although there have been allegation as to that. My example in my first post was just off the top of my head and intended to illustrate the extreme end of the consequences of our health care system albeit with a bit of hyperbole.

There is another film on Showtime, I think, that was released around the same time as John Q called "Damaged Care". I've never seen it but there might be something similar in it.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.
