Why do you do it?
Hey, everyone. I have been wanting to ask this for some time. Why do you all bodybuild? Looks, job performance, strength, competition-on any level, personal satisfaction, health? I'm not asking this in a negative way, but I am curious. I do it for all of them, except for competition-I don't plan to. Are there any other reasons why you are in the BB lifestyle?
-John

i used to be a bully magnet as a kid. this changed everything. but then coupled with some martial arts i picked up = me being a better person since it enforced self-restraint and self-control.
ps: i don't bodybuild

Are you serious, Anuj? What do you do, then, in terms of weightlifting? Way to go, dave!! Did you work out at 17?

I'm serious...I used to be picked on....because I was big and fat...usually kids who are big and fat are the real bullies but I was too "soft" as a person to bully anyone....nothing much has changed...I just know how to go about things differently now
As for what I do in the gym....I'm into Powerlifting / Strongman Training / Strength Training....in short: I hate to label what I do..so I'll keep it simple: I train for myself

^^agreed about not calling it BB'ing as that is a different animal...
I strength train (I like it as a nice umbrella term anyway) partially for wrestling and for overall health... I used to be a fat kid too but lifting/wrestling has really improved my self-confidence, and from that I've just become a healthier person in general (more friends, happier, etc.)

Several reasons I guess, but the most important being the sense of satisfaction I get from achieving a goal. Plus, changing the way I look is a definite bonus.

True, Widdoes. I remember in my "When/how did it start for you?" thread where you tell of your start in BBing. What a transformation!!!
