Yeah, I don't want to add any more fat to my frame and I am not expecting to become some genetic perfection. But college definitely takes up most of my time and homework takes up the majority of my free time. Keep up the hard work

Nice work on the OH squat! Thats pretty dang heavy for that exercise.

I dont' know how you grip so narrow when you do that? I have to grip at each collar when I do overheads in order to get my arms to lock back. I'm thinking maybe I have some shoulder flexibility problems.

Great work Anuj!

Fall 2008 Training
Mesocycle 2 - Week 3

Squat Day

Beginning Thoughts:
I was not in the mood for this workout. My hips as SO sore from Overhead Squats! I was groaning and creaking like an old man during this workout. Not to mention it was freezing walking from my room to the gym and I got soaked wet in the rain too.
Workout:
Speed Squats:
@55% = 195 lbs x 2 reps x 5 sets

Heavy Squat Singles:
@ 95% = 335 lbs x 1 rep x 3 sets
@ 90% = 315 lbs x 1 rep x 2 sets

Rack Deadlifts:
315 lbs x 6 reps x 4 sets

Good Mornings:
125 lbs x 6 reps x 3 sets

Unilateral Standing Dumbbell Shoulder Press:
50 lbs x 8 reps x 3 sets

Facepulls:
70 lbs x 10 reps x 3 sets

Pallof Press:
25 lbs x 15 reps x 3 sets
Videos:
Squats:
Overall Impression:
With final exams starting from Thursday, I've just been very busy and stressed. My form on the squats was a bit iffy because I just could not mentally focus. Next time I'll do better, I'm sure.

I hope everyone's had a good start to the week. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the kind words, IW. I use a narrow grip because of shoulder problems. If I didn't have them I might've used a wider grip. It is hard though.

Judging by your squat vids, your 1RM may in fact be higher then you think!

I think at the most my 1RM is 350 or 355. But that is pushing it. 335 was hard (but then again: I was having a pretty terrible day).

I don't think I will be doing heavy squats for a few months atleast. My next mesocycle focuses on Anderson Squats and one after that I plan on doing Box Squats and the one after that I think I will focus on Front Squats or Front Box Squats. Maybe the time after that will warrant a return to back squats. Hopefully that time around I will be a bit stronger. Maybe at that time 355 will be above 90% of my 1RM :)

At that depth, I would guess your 1RM is 350-360. But if you only went to parallel, then it would be higher.

Well, like I said: I have no concept of depth. Your post puts me off guard because I thought I was only going to parallel!!! :biglaugh:

Nah, I know what you mean but I have no idea how to just go to parallel. I do know that when I get back to box squatting, I am only hitting parallel. Nothing more.
