ME Squat Day
Fucker of a day today, real hard but I managed a PR.I did high bar squats with a pusspad for ME,these are so hard!! I love them, I nearly got owned with 137.5kg on the bar and no safety supports tho, fucking scary.Moved to speed deadlifts next, Eric you are absolutely right in saying that ME work facilitates DE work and visa versa.Speed was good and then I wanted to work up a bit, I think my deadlift form suffers just a bit not pulling heavy often so I think I'll def pull heavier a bit more often.I was pretty beat after the deadlifts so I just did some heavy abs and carbed up!! ME Squat Day 13/10/08 Low Highbar Box Squat with Pusspad 1x1 131kg, 137.5kg(PR),122.5kg, 125kg Speed Deadlifts approx 50% 5x1 80kg 4x1 140kg 1x1 150kg Pulldown abs with Twist 3x10 75kg 1x20 |
Vid of the box Squats. You notice I started with a lower box but it really felt like it would cave in so I had no choice but to go with my regular box.
As you can see the PR lift was uuuuugggglllly, so I backed down to about 90% for a couple quality reps. |
So whats your plan if you ever get stuck like that? Ditch the weight off the back and hope not to break much?
Very strong squatting btw. IronWorker |
Since you don't have a power rack, you might consider rigging some chains from the ceiling for ME work...it would be worth the $20 it would cost. Looking good...I feel stronger after having watched you lift that. :D

You better have a damn strong ceiling beam to be hanging 300+ lbs off of...

holy shit Hops, you're a fucking monster!!!

I just had to dump a box squat the other day. One that I was sure I had in the bag. If I had not been sitting in front of my safety catches I would have been in big trouble. I guess I could have tried shoving the weight off backwards but it would have seriously busted my box and probably severely damaged my bar if not myself.

It probably has 2x10s if it has a floor above but it looks like its a garage which likely means its 1 floor. If this is true then I would assume it has trusses made out of 2x4s or 2x6s at best. This is why I was skeptical about the weight. If its 2x10s then go for it. As long as your connection points/chain are strong. You also have to remember that he's makin PRs pretty much every time he works out!lol He should be at 400lbs in no time.
Just lookin out for a fella! IronWorker |
I have no idea what to do with those chains guys!! I am the very least creative handy man ever, my wife makes fun of me all the time LOL.
I think I def need a power cage, I like the one that E posted (thx for taking the time E, Love ya work mate) My only concern is I squat pretty damn wide and I dont want to have to bring my stance in to accomodate a rack, but it would work sweet for most of my other ME work that is done with a narrower stance.Hmmmm what to do!! |
