I was there too. At my school they called it "Golds Gyming". So for a while when I would use my strength they would bust my stones and say, "Stop Golds Gyming the guy!" It took some time for me to break the habit.

it depends on the purpose, as most lifting does. But most of the time I do it on off days as cardio with weights. I also do more of the stability work on workout days to help strengthen my core and joints, mostly doing turkish get-ups and windmills.
That's not to say that you can't do KB workouts for just strength. Once you take the class you'll have a better understanding of where you might want to place it in your workouts.
I guarantee that after the first session of KB work you will be hooked. It's hard to explain.
