Cramps, most of the time are NOT caused by electrolyte imbalance or magnesium or fluid status. That's kind of one of those assumptions people make. Much more often it is in the soft tissue itself which in turn is related to sensorimototor system problems, disfunctions. Adhesions, knots, scar tissue, and a muscle whose "irritibility threshold" is lowered. Again, though, keep in mind that is is MOST likely that the hams is just the brunt of the problem.

BTW, since cramping was a problem before, I would actually not fucus too much on stretching the hams after the initial healing.

If you had said, you'd been doing endurance running out in 100 degree heat and your legs or whatever cramped up I might say, oh, fluid balance, electrolytes, etc. But after some front squats or just in general walking around? Doubt it.
