Wednesday's Workout

PM training:

Submission wrestling 2 hour

OVERVIEW
My knee is feeling good and I think I'll be able to compete this weekend. The only problem is my weight is up a little higher than I would like and I don't think I'll be able to make the 195 lbs weight class. But It's not that big of a deal as most of you guys have seen I have competed in the 210 classes before and won.

Class was amazing and I was able to really push myself without re-injuring my knee. My first sparring match was against a blue belt and it went on for 7 minutes strait and I eventually won, it was guard passing sparring and I passed his guard. Then I was "the guy to beat" so I had fresh guy after fresh guy come after me. I eventually lost after about 8 or 9 rounds, talk about cardio. At the end of class our coach went up to each one of us that was competing and gave us specific things to work on in our game plan for the competition. That was great and it showed how dedicated he is to us. I'm glad I decided to stay with him him when he opened his own school.

Mondays' Workout

PM training:

"Fight Gone Bad":
Crossfit style workout: 2 rounds, 1 min for each station, 1 min rest.

Sumo deadlift high-pull, 65 pounds (Reps)
Wall-ball, 20 pound ball, 10 ft target (Reps)
Box Jump, 20" box (Reps)
Row (Calories)
Push-press, 65 pounds (Reps)

Comp Team Submission wrestling 1.5 hour

OVERVIEW
Man, that workout was harder than I thought. It seems like they want to do an endurance workout before classes more. So I'm wondering if this is going to me a "Monday" thing. I'll just have to wait and see. Adding up all the reps and Calories burned in the rows I managed to score a 185, which is "ok" compared to some of the more endurance guys, one skinny guy got a 250. The guy that was running it said I did good but I think he was just trying to motivate me. I guess this boat is for tugging heavy things not speed but I'll be working on that. Comp team was good. We did an overview of what we've been working on the last couple of weeks and it was a very nice refresher. Sparred a little and that was the end of the night.

Tuesday's Workout

1 Leg Squats: 6x3 @ 8kg (last set was jumping and with no weight
KB Snatches: 5x5 @ 20kg
BB Bench: 3x8 @ 185 lbs.
DB Curls: 3x8 @ 40 lbs.

Yoga 1 hour

OVERVIEW
Workout was tough. I'm getting better with the 1 leg squats, I don't need a step anymore. I do pause a little, so now I'm trying to make the movement more fluid, then add more weight. Snatches wore me out. The last set I was losing form but I was able to not bruise myself so that is a plus. Right after working out I went to a yoga studio for a type of class that I have never taken before, Yin Yoga. It was less of a "workout" and more of stretching. All in all the workout was great and it feels good to get back into it and not be injured, knock on wood... *knock* *knock*.

Talking Oooooooooohh!!!! Man

Monday's Workout

PM training:

TIRE FLIPS... AAAHHHH!!: 4X10 @ 1 AWESOME TIRE

Comp. Team Submission Wrestling 2 hour

OVERVIEW
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! THEY FINALLY GOT A TIRE!!!
Sorry but I was so excited when I walked into the gym at my MMA school and walked into the back and there it was. I immediately had a Christmas morning moment. I ran over and rolled it into the parking lot, they had the back garage door open. The guy who got it said it was heavy. I flipped it once and it was about a 250lbs tire, give or take. I told him that it was nothing and then proceeded to flip away. After my first two sets, one of the girls that runs the gym and the Crossfit group yield out, "Dave give me 10." I said I got one better. I flip the tire, steady it, jump in the hole then out, run around to the other side where I was before and flip it again. She saw that and was like yeah that a good one to that. So I did that for the last to reps.
Comp. Team was good I was able to grapple the top belt guys and hopefully make a good impression and get noticed so I can get promoted soon.

After the day was over I went up to one of the guys that works at the gym and said, "I'm so glad you guys got the tire. Now you HAVE to get a couple of sledge hammers." He looked at me funny and asked why. WHY?! To hit the tire with, just get the heaviest sledge you can and a light one for the girls and you'll see.

Wednesday's Workout

PM training:
MMA 1hr
Comp. Team Submission Wrestling 2 hour

OVERVIEW
Practices went very well. MMA was real fun and we worked a lot of combinations mixing hands and takedowns.
Comp. Team was one of the best thus far. The reason is I was able to roll with my coach and really try and show him what I learned and that I'm applying the concepts to my game and not just "doing moves". After our time was up he said I did real good. So hopefully this will translate to a promotion soon. We'll see. Other than that, we worked on lots of conceptual things and some really cools moves that I was doing by mistake when I grappled my coach. It was just a very Zen evening.
