Best times to take Whey Protein
I just got a tub of it and I want to make sure I'm using it right. So before I start I wanted to know what are the best times of day to use it.
I work out every day except on wednseday when I have hockey practice.
And just incase I'm 5'8'', 158lbs, and 15 years old.
Thanks and sorry if this has been posted before.

To be honest, here's my take...
-You're 158 lbs. Divide that by 5 meals in a day. That would give you about 32 grams of protein per meal, which isn't a lot. So, if you have proper nutrition, then I would recommend you taking a scoop as soon as you wake up, then one preworkout, then one more postworkout. That's all you'll need.

I agree with 0311, at your weight you can get most of your protein from whole foods. The three times that 0311 suggested make the most sense for whey supplementation as this is when your body needs the fast absoribing protein the most. For everything else aim for whole protein sources like meat, eggs, fish, etc.

Yep, that the way to do it.
All other protein sources are from real food.

Absolutely, I agree with everyone, here.
The one thing I would mention, though, is that whey protein can supress the appetite longer than other sources. Studies have shown this, but it's not clear why.
So, if after, say, that morning whey you find your appetite greatly diminished later on, it may be a sign that you need to take in a little good carbohydrate along with your shake. It won't slow down absorption all that much, and should help counteract that appetite suppressant effect. You certainly don't want to find yourself eating less of all the food you need to gain.
It may not be a problem for you, anyway. I only mention it so that you recognise it if it does occur.

Ive had real good results by taking about 2 scoops in the morning, and then usually ill fix myself a 2 scoop shake with some icecream right after I workout or right before I go to bed. Ive had real good resluts with doing that, but depending on your schedule you might not have enough time.

For protein, I'd say 1.5 times your weight, but why stop there? If you weigh 150 lbs like your other thread states, then that equals 225 grams protein. Now, divide that by 5 meals...45 grams per meal of protein. This figure does not include pre/postworkout protein, which will top you off well over that.

haha i must say, you know your stuff man.
everything youve been saying makes complete sense, but a year ago i was at the doctors for a checkup, and asked him about whey and junk (i had first started with supplements then) and he said some BS about not having more than 90 grams a day(supplementary, not including meals) at my age or something, and that really didnt sound right..
