The clean and press is an excellent olympic lifting exercise that I have used in the past primarily when building power (speed + strength) for football/wrestling. I recommend starting with the bar and asking for help on the form from someone you know who uses proper form. Make sure you get the technique down before loading up the weight to reduce the chance of injury.

Hope this helps and good luck.
