I love preacher curls actually. NOT with a lot of weight either. Try hitting some up wide grip with a 4-0-2 tempo and 60 seconds between sets! N-I-C-E!~

Muscle shape is a function of genetics and degree of overall development. As you develop a muscle towards its potential, it does change in appearance (generally for the better) but always within the parameters defined by its inherent shape. A person who tends to have proportionately more mass towards the upper, lower, inner or outer region of his or her pectoralis-major will always have that tendency, though it may be more or less apparent at various stages in their development, and in most cases appears less pronounced as overall development proceeds.

This has been my experience with my own chest (and in genera). And while my chest may never be the exact shape I would like it to be as "the inherant shape" came out it did seem to be for the better.
Hell even my lats changed for the better when they really started growing and I can assure you that I have never planned my training to isolate the lower or upper lats or anything like that. Bigger muscle just look better no matter what the shape.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

I was kidding about preacher curls actually. I do them sometimes. Really I don't do a lot of curls period lately. What I really like to do is one arm preacher curls so that my arm is not forced to the front. I.E. you can get more stretch in the entire bicep that way which I DO think makes them more effective overall. Haha, you try my way and I'll try yours!

Cool. I actually use the opposite side of the preacher that usually supports your chest. Nice steep drop which makes it more like a "perfect" curl. Similiar I guess in execution to Arnold's arm blaster he used to where.
Ssshhh! No more secrets!

Is that what they call "spider curls"? I do that too! Totally different thing there. Although as I said I haven't been doing a lot of curling. I'm such a pullup freak.

its funny how everytime a newbie comes through here we get to debunk the same myths over and over ... I just hope bigben there is open minded enough to look past all the bro-tology and see what we are talkin about here.

think whatever you want but I've studied the book and found that there are exercises to target certain areas of the pectorals and that they work.

OK, I would love to see this book. What is the title, author and edition? I want to see if there is actual scientific fact/ research or it's just another juice head that is trying to make money by putting the word "anatomy" in it making it sound legit.

I'd like to know how you figure out what works and what doesn't. I've done Flat Bench (BB) and DB Bench/Flyes for the majority of my chest work and I'm not lacking in the chest department. How do you explain that when I've only been working chest from one angle?

On Amazon it says "MuscleMag International columnist, orthopedic surgeon, and bodybuilder" Nick Evans. It seems to be a list of exercises and how to perform them and what muscles (or areas of the muscle) they supposedly target. No routines or anything like that.
