If your muscles are still very sore after a few days, you may be overtraining or not drinking enough water. Protein helps too.

The first few workouts are always bad. You could go for a light job just to get some bloodflow going. You could also go to the gym but keep it light, again more focus on just warming up the muscles.

I wouldn't lift heavy if you're still very sore. After a couple weeks you'll be into the workout program and your soreness shoudn't affect you much.
