yea you're right, lemme rephrase that. Stay away from low GI carbs before bed, theres nothing wrong with some oats in the shake.

You have an anabolic window of about 30 minutes after lifting. What I would do to minimize bloating from downing a shake right before running is to sip on some BCAA's while you are lifting so you don't have to drink so much whey postworkout and take in some protein pre-workout. It'll keep you from getting cramped while you are running. Like Ross said it won't make much difference if you take it right after workout. Your muscles repair while you are not awake. I just hate food sloshing in my stomach while doing cardio.
