I'll bet it was running around playing football that really aggravated it. If your hurt it during the workout I suspect it might have been the bulgarians. The area that it hurts doesn't necessarily tell you where the problem is. I'd rest it and massage then inner quad area. See if you find a sensitive area in there somewhere.

Hopefully it's nothing serious and will resolve. If you do go to a doc you really need a physical exam of the knee. An MRI is not likely to uncover something. I'm just saying that because people are always requesting MRI's but they are just as likely to see the "results" of the problem rather than the problem itself. And actual detailed knee exam would tell you a whole lot more right now. Which probalby means ortho...
